Vermont Commission on Native American Affairs
Meeting Minutes
June 18, 2009
Members Present: Jeanne Brink; Charles Delaney-Megeso, Tim de la Bruere, Judy Dow, Brad Barratt
Guests: Doris Seale; Thomas Lichtenberger
This meeting was brought to order by the Commission at 1 pm in the Justin Morrill Conference Room, 6th Floor of the National Life Building Montpelier.
1) Election of an official moderator/ facilitator of meetings until the Commission receives further instruction from Gov. Douglas.
Judy Dow nominated Timothy de la Bruere. Jeanne Brink seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
2) Motion by Charles Delaney to continue meetings in the event the Commission is lacking a chair or moderator. Seconded by Jeanne Brink.
Motion carried unanimously.
3) Discussion on a short list of recommendations for future commissioners. (Still gathering contact info)
4) Discussion on asking families bands to select a spokes person for each family group to be a liaison at the Commission meetings.
5) Motion made by Jeanne Brink to send correspondence to Susanne Young and Nancy Boone. Seconded by Brad Barratt.
Motion carried unanimously.
6) Tobacco Tax issue to be heard at next meeting.
7) Update by Charlie on his work for a Vested Authority Bill
8) Invite, Hinda Miller, Dianne Snelling to our next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:05 pm.
