Vermont Commission on Native American Affairs March 25, 2010

Members Present:  Charles Delaney- Megeso, Chairman; Judy Dow; Jeanne Brink; Brad Barratt
 Members Absent: Tim de la Bruere
Interpreters: Barb Walker; Jennifer Raney

1. Remarks from the chair.

 2. Judy made a motion to accept minutes as corrected by Charlie in our email. Jeanne seconded. All Agreed.  

3. Old Business
Discussion about bill in the house and the senate occurred.
Judy made a motion to write a letter to the House and Senate members opposing S.222 as written and state that we have asked people to write in and please listen to their comments. Brad seconded.  Consensus 4. Discussion occurred around the development and procedure for using the commission website.

Jeanne made a motion to follow the examples that were given for personal/ private and public information for something that gets published on the website. Judy seconded it. Consensus

Public definition discussed – government documents addressing (i.e census, grant opportunities, private foundations with opportunities for Indian people in Vermont like NEFA)
Public information not controlled by an individual like the National Endowment for the humanities grants.

Definition discussed for personal and private. Events such as social and cultural group information, language groups events and pow wows.
 
Individual or group events need to be pre approved at the next available meeting.

Does a job description other than what is in S.117 exist for the commission, Is there a general job description for Commissions operating in Vermont?
