A VCNAA Endorsement for Mayor of Newport?

By Mark Mitchell

For nearly three years, we have worked with Tim de la Bruere on the Vermont Commission on Native American Affairs and we support his candidacy for Mayor of the City of Newport.

Tim has always worked for transparency, fairness and honesty in every issue he’s approached. Through his position, he has come to know people within the Governor’s Office, the Attorney General’s Office, the State Legislature, the Department of Education, the Division of Historic Preservation, and other agencies.

Tim is a hard worker, he has integrity, and he’s honest.

As Mayor, he will be as great an asset to your community as he has been to ours.

Newport City Council 2008 Meeting Minutes
Mr. Delabruere stated that the selling Native American crafts by unrecognized tribes is a federal offense.  He noted that Mr. Willard had mentioned selling crafts that the Pow-Wow on June 7th & 8th.  Mr. Wilson suggested inviting them back to explain what they intended to sell at the event.
