Public input sought on improving lower Winooski watershed By Free Press staff • March 24, 2009 WATERBURY — The Agency of Natural Resources will host a public meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., March 31, in Essex Junction to discuss efforts to address storm water runoff and protecting water quality in the lower Winooski watershed. The meeting will be held at the ANR regional office, 111 West St., and will focus on what individuals can do to limit runoff on their properties. Storm water runoff from urban areas is one of the main challenges to improving water quality, according to Agency officials. Learn about efforts under way by the state, towns and nonprofits to address storm water runoff, share your own experiences and learn about available resources. The meeting is held as part of the Agency of Natural Resources’ planning process to identify opportunities for helping community members make water quality improvements in the lower Winooski watershed. Additional water resource-related topics identified during basin planning meetings earlier this month will be addressed at future meetings. For more information, contact Karen Bates at 879-2339 or
